The Opal Corporation Pty Ltd (Opal Corp) is a second generation family business, first established in 1972 by Yanni Athanasiadis, now under the joint directorship of Yanni and his son Niko Athanasiadis.Opal Corp is recognised internationally as one of the leaders in opal mining, wholesaling, retailing, exporting and also as a source of opal information, having featured in a myriad of documentaries and press articles.

Our mining, processing and retailing outlet are based in Coober Pedy, South Australia with our wholesaling and exporting business being based in Adelaide, South Australia.Our retail outlet, Umoona Opal Mine & Museum, is a multi-award winning retail and tourism icon. It houses a large fossil display, the only permanent off site display from the South Australian Museum.

We specialize in South Australian White and Crystal opal and also have an extensive stock of Lightning Ridge Black Opal and Queensland Boulder Opal.We have a unique position in the opal industry as our reach from the mining fields all the way through to the final product, makes our prices very competitive.
